The two members: a battle champion and a world champion DJ

R-Shitei, the rapper

R-Shitei was born in 1991 in Sakai, Osaka. He made his name in freestyle MC battles, where two rappers improvise against each other over a beat. According to his official profile, he won the Osaka round of the Ultimate MC Battle (UMB) five times in a row and the national UMB Grand Championship in 2012, 2013 and 2014 – the first person to win it three years running. He was also the second “final boss” on Freestyle Dungeon, a TV Asahi show where challengers battled a line-up of top rappers.

DJ Matsunaga, the DJ

DJ Matsunaga was born in 1990 in Nagaoka, Niigata. He makes the duo’s tracks and plays the turntables live. In 2019 he won the DMC World DJ Championships in London, one of the oldest and biggest DJ competitions in the world. He also performed at the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics.

Bling-Bang-Bang-Born: why the whole world heard it

“Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” was released on 7 January 2024 as the opening theme of Mashle: Magic and Muscles season 2. A fast, bouncing beat, a chorus that is easy to copy, and the “BBBB dance” challenge on short-video apps carried it far beyond anime fans.

  • Billboard Global 200: peaked at No. 8.
  • Billboard Japan Hot 100: No. 1 for 19 weeks (not in a row), and No. 1 on the 2024 year-end chart.
  • Certifications: Diamond for streaming in Japan, and Gold in the United States. Together with Otonoke, it made Creepy Nuts the first Japanese artists to get RIAA Gold for two Japanese-language songs (reported in February 2026).
  • NHK Kōhaku: they sang it on Japan’s New Year’s Eve music show on 31 December 2024.

People often search for the lyrics, the romaji or an English translation. We don’t copy lyrics here; they belong to the writers. A music app that shows licensed lyrics is the easiest way to read along.

Their other anime songs

Song Anime When
Bling-Bang-Bang-Born Mashle: Magic and Muscles season 2 (opening) January 2024
Otonoke Dandadan (opening) 2024 (CD single 11 December 2024)
Daten (堕天) Yofukashi no Uta / Call of the Night season 1 (opening) July 2022
Yofukashi no Uta Yofukashi no Uta / Call of the Night season 1 (ending) July 2022
Mirage Yofukashi no Uta / Call of the Night Season 2 (opening) July 2025
Nemure Yofukashi no Uta Season 2 (ending) July 2025

Season 1 of Yofukashi no Uta began on Fuji TV’s Noitamina slot on 7 July 2022 with “Daten”, a new song they wrote for the opening. The ending was “Yofukashi no Uta” – the anime’s official site calls it the song the title comes from (Sony Music Japan’s and the anime’s official announcements of 9 June 2022, checked 27 October 2026). So Season 2 in 2025 brought them back to the same night-time story. Otonoke is their second song with RIAA Gold in the US.

What the owner of this site likes about them

What I want people abroad to know is how good each of them is on his own. R-Shitei is amazing at improvised rap. At live shows he takes a few words that the audience calls out and joins them together into a rap on the spot. He won the MC battle championship three years in a row and is one of the best rappers in Japan.

DJ Matsunaga plays the clueless, easygoing one, but he is a world champion DJ. Watching the two of them together – one sharp with words, one playing dumb until his hands touch the turntables – is a big part of the fun.
